Rental Cars

Looking for a way to get around while in town?

There are man options available, depending on what your wants/needs are. Here are my experiences from trying different rental options...

Rental Options...

There are many ways to rent a vehicle. Here are the pros and cons of the different options I have tried...

Ridesharing
-TURO... This service allows you to rent other peoples' personally owned vehicles directly, allowing for more convenient pick-up/drop-off options and a much wider variety of vehicles than a typical rental agency. I highly recommend this service, unless you plan to return the car at a different location than you pick it up from, in which case a major rental agency will be your only option.

Major Rental Agencies
-Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, etc... I have found that most of these companies are quite reliable. Some are more convenient while some are more affordable. Who you rent through will depend on your demand for convenience, and your budget. There are a multitude of options, but shopping can be very easy- I use KAYAK to search for the most affordable agency.

INSURANCE...
All rental agencies, including Turo, will insist that you to purchase car insurance through them. This can be very costly, often charging daily rates that are as high as the vehicle rental itself! To get around this, check with your auto insurance provider. Many insurance companies will extend the same coverage for your personal vehicle to any rentals (including Turo) for a small extra monthly fee. This could save you hundreds if you rent cars as often as I do. I use Grange Insurance. If your car insurance doesn't offer this option, Grange might be worth looking into...
